Why Colon Hydrotherapy?

A healthy colon is essential to a healthy body. Conventional diets, which consist of refined, processed foods high in saturated fats and low in fiber, contribute to many problems associated with the large intestines. "When the bowel becomes encrusted with unexpelled fecal material due to poor dietary habits, the absorption of vital nutrition slows down to the degree of encrustation", states Dr. Bernard Jensen. Stagnant waste in the colon may result in increased toxins and bacteria due to decomposition.

The colon contains the largest concentration of bacteria in the body. These bacteria provide important functions such as the synthesis of folic acid, B-vitamins, and vitamin K from foods. Bacilllus coli and acidophilus comprise the majority of the healthy bacteria in the colon along with other disease-producing bacteria in small numbers.

Colon therapy can also help to exercise and strengthen colon muscle to improve peristalsis (the natural muscular movement that moves waste through the colon).

What is the process?

The individual lies down comfortably on a treatment table, fully covered.

A disposable speculum is inserted 3 inches into the rectum. A water tube (inflow tube) and an elimination tube are connected to the speculum and then attached to the FDA registered equipment that is placed on the wall. The temperature and pressure is monitored throughout the session as water is circulated into and out of the colon without any assistance of the individual. The instrument offers a minimal starting pressure of1/4 psi (pounds per square inch). The session is performed effectively below 2 psi setting.

This method provides a closed system in which the waste material is eliminated through the instrument and out the drain line, avoiding any offensive odor and maintaining the dignity of the individual. During a session the therapist may use a gentle abdominal massage, acupressure points and reflexology to enhance the the process. Our treatment room is equipped with a private bathroom to insure the individual's comfort.

What kind of equipment is used?

The equipment used in our office is a Hydro-San Plus Model C.

The Hydro-San Plus Model C is FDA registered.

This equipment has a low volume/low pressure administration.

The equipment has a water temperature control and a built in disinfection unit.

The Hydro-San uses only disposable units which are discarded after each use.

There is also a built-in double check valve that prevents waste from returning to the water supply.
